Two of the top US airlines, JetBlue and United Airlines, have now joined the twitter train and are using this as a tool to fill unbooked seats on many of their daily flights. The Airlines Twitter followers can get first choice on some great discounted fares through extra cheap tickets available only on Twitter. The Airlines are essentially trying to fill all their seats on flights that might otherwise take off half empty, by doing you, the consumer a favor!
United Airlines is calling its new deals “twares“. Where users will need to click through to the main site in order to view final pricing information. JetBlue is calling them “cheeps“, and posts flight times and prices right on its twitter page.
Since the announcement, both Airlines Twitter pages seem to be gathering an increasing large following, with with about 15,500 and 21,000 followers, respectively. It is definitely proven to be a success so far, with many flights selling out in no time! JetBlue even posted a steal of a deal recently, only $9 for a one-way trip from JFK to Nantucket, you try and beat that!
