Facebook is now up to 250 million users, with 50 million of them just signing up for a profile in the past 90 days! So how is it they have a such a high user retention rate? The answer just may be GUILT.
Let’s pretend you are applying for a new job, and you don’t want your possible future employer to check your Facebook profile and find the pictures of you last year, wild on Spring Break, so you want to delete your account. You go to “Account Settings” then “Deactivate Account“. You would think this is the last step, and your gone, but no. Instead, your shown with the photos of five of your friends, and a guilt trip message, “Are you sure you want to deactivate your account, [friend name] will miss you.” … Thanks Facebook!

They sneakily force you to feel guilty about saying bye bye to Facebook and give you one more chance to re think your decision. Truthfully, this probably isn’t really the reason why so many users stay on Facebook, but its a good one right?…
